FAQs

Hopefully we have answered the most frequently asked questions here - but if there is anything else you'd like to know, please don't hesitate to contact us.

How Do I Book?

We prefer the personal touch, so we don't use an automatic booking platform. Please use the Contact Us link to email us or give us a ring. Even if we are away from the house, we respond quickly to confirm availability, and will then send you a provisional booking email.

The booking will be confirmed by email once you have paid for the cost of the stay (the B&B charge), and we will include a copy of our terms and conditions, which can also be found on the website.

What if I needed to cancel the booking?

We will refund you in full if you cancel up to 7 days in advance of your arrival. If you cancel within 7 days of arrival, we will only refund you if we are able to rebook your place.

What are your prices?

You can find our room prices here on the website. The key ones per night are:

Bed and breakfast £85 for two people in a room or £65 for single occupancy

Camping £10 for one person and a tent and £5 for each additional person

When can I check in?

We are ready to receive guests between 3.30pm and 7.00pm the day of arrival. Please let us know if you plan to arrive earlier or later, or if you wish to drop off luggage before then. We request that you check out by 10.30 on the day of departure, unless otherwise agreed with us.

Do you offer meals?

In addition to breakfast, we can offer dinner and packed lunches with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Do you cater for allergies and specific diets?

All meals are home cooked, and we should be able to cater for special diets if you give us notice.

We are NOT a gluten or nut free house but do our best to separate ingredients and utensils for those with allergies.  If you have any specific dietary requirements, please contact us so we can discuss how we can safely meet these.

Can I have an alcoholic drink?

We have a premises licence to sell alcohol to guests including campers. We offer a range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks. If you look under 25 years old be prepared to be challenged to prove your age!

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Mobile phone reception in the valley is poor but whilst a guest with us you can use our Wi-Fi and will be given the access details on arrival. We have a fair use policy, which is explained in our terms and conditions.

Do you have television?

There are no televisions in the bedrooms, but there is one in the guest sitting room.  There is also a selection of board games there that you are welcome to use, as well as many, many books around the house, and some quiet corners where you can curl up and read.

Can children stay?

As we do not have family rooms, we do not accept children under the age of 16 except by prior arrangement.

Do you take dogs?

Service dogs are, of course, welcome, but please give us notice.

We do also welcome guests with pet dogs by prior arrangement.  We have our own dogs who are friendly and enthusiastic, and we keep them out of the way of guests. All floors in public rooms and the double bedrooms are either stone or wood.

What camping facilities do you have?

Our campsite is basic and as natural as possible.  Campers are free to pitch where they like on the site beside the River Morda, and have access to a drinking water tap and a WC. We can also provide a portable shower and pop-up shower tent.

Campers can use our Wi-Fi at no extra charge - the coverage extends to The Kettle House but not across the camping area. To comply with our camping licence we do require campers take all their rubbish away with them.

As part of the pitch fee, you have access to The Kettle House where you can make a hot drink and sit inside on the sofa and charge up phones etc. The Kettle House is normally closed between 9.30pm and 7.30am.

Do you have parking or bike storage?

Yes, we have off street parking on our drive at the front of the house and can secure bikes overnight for cyclists.

How far are you from the Offa’s Dyke Path?

That’s an easy one. The path goes past our front door, between the house and The Kettle House.

How far are you from Oswestry?

We are located 3 miles outside Oswestry. There is no public transport, but we can drive you in and pick you up from the town for a small charge.

Oswestry is a thriving market town with independent shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.

What is there to do in the area?

We have a Things To Do section on the website where we offer ideas for activities during your stay. Please get in touch if you have any particular questions, and we will do our best to assist. This includes ideas for walks in the area and we have printed map guides of some of our favourite walks from the front door, which guests can borrow.
